Royal Docks are located just North of the River Thames at the far reaches of the EastEnd London, 2 miles east of Canary Wharf.

The area is officially North Woolwich and Silvertown.

There are a variety of ways to get here select from the list below:

    From the North:

    1. From the M25 take Exit 27, Head South on the M11, towards 'Central London / Docklands'

    2. At the end of the M11, get in the left hand Lane, head towards Central London / Docklands

    3. You should now be on the A406 heading towards 'Barking. Head South for approx 5 Miles. You will come to a roundabout.

    4. At the roundabout (head straight across it), get in the Middle lane, take the 2nd exit.

    5. You should now be on the A1020 'Royal Docks Road' (dual carriage way), head past the retail parkon your right (Sainsburys).

    6. Keep going past Beckton Retail park on your Left (tescos - 24 hrs + petrol) . At the roundabout (You are at Gallions Reach Roundabout)

    7. If you want : Galleons Lock, Ionian, SkyStudios, Woolwich ferry, Silvertown, ---> Take the 2nd Exit, Head Over the the Bridge.

    8. If you want : City Airport, Tradewinds, Barrier Point, Britannia Village, Eastern Quay, Capital East, ---> Take the 4th Exit (after UEL Entrance) Head along dual carriage way.


    From the East:

    1a. From the M25 South take Exit 31, Take left hand lane, follow signs for 'A13 - Central London / Dagenham'

    1b. Or From the M25 North take Exit 30, Take right hand lane at the roundabout, follow signs for 'A13 - Central London / Dagenham'

    2. Head East on the 'A13' towards Central London for approx 9 Miles.

    3. Look for the Exit marked 'Docklands', just after the Showcase Cinemas (red signs) on your left.

    4. At the roundabout, get in the left hand lane, take the 1st exit.

    5. You should now be on the A1020 'Royal Docks Road' (dual carriage way), head past the retail parkon your right (Sainsburys).

    6. Keep going past Beckton Retail park on your Left (tescos - 24 hrs + petrol) . At the roundabout (You are at Gallions Reach Roundabout)

    From the North West:

    1. From the M25 North take Exit 16, Head West on the M40,towards 'Central London / Docklands'

    2. The M40 turns into the A40.

    3. Keep going straight, through all the trafic lights, past "CarPhone Warehouse " on your left, eventually you will pass the "Edgware Road Hilton" on your right.

    4. You will be on 'Marylebone Road', head straight for several miles on this road, until you get to KingsCross Station

    5. At Kings Cross, go through the lights and take the lefthand lane fork, go up the hill (Pentonville Road)

    6. At the Lights at the top of the hill, go straight on, and get in the left hand lane. This is 'City Road'

    6. Go straight on, at the Roundabout take the first left, then get in the middle right hand lane This is 'City Road'

    7. Get in the right hand lane, follow the road round to the right onto 'Great Eastern Street'

    8. At the lights go straight through, onto 'Commercial Street'

    9. at the end of this road 'Commercial Street' is the 'Aldgate Roundabout',take a left then get into the right hand 'bus lane'

    10. Go through the lights, take the first left onto 'Commercial Road'

    11. Head straight on this road, for several miles. until you come to a main junction. Get in the right hand lane for 'Docklands'

    12. Go through the lights, take the left hand lane, Go through the lights, take the left hand lane onto 'Aspen Way'

    13. You will pass Canary Wharf on your Right, at the roundabout, get in the right hand lane

    14. Take the 4th Exit at the roundabout (the one after the Esso Garage exit).

    15. At the next Round, you are at RoyalDocks WEST roundabout.

    16. If you want : 'Excel' Take the 1st Exit, then left. Canning Town Tube Station Take a right then right again.

    17. If you want : Canning Town Tube Station, Take the 1st Exit, Take a right then right again.

    18. If you want : Anything else :City Airport, Tradewinds, Barrier Point, Britannia Village, Eastern Quay, Capital East, ---> Take the 2nd Exit on to 'SilverTown Way'


    From the South West / West:

    1. From the M25 North take Exit 15 for the M4, Head West on the M4,towards 'Central London'

    2. Take a right at the lights heading towards Chelsea and you'll be on Finborough Road

    3. Follow the road round and you'll be on Chelsea Embankment, keep going straight

    4. Keep going straight, eventuall you'll pass the House of Parliment on your right.

    5. At the roundabout take a right

    6. Take a left before 'Westminster Bridge, onto 'Victoria Embankment'

    7. Keep going straight, eventually you'll Pass the Tower of London and Tower Bridge on your right hand side

    8. At the lights, take a right as if your heading across Tower Bridge, but before tower bridge take the road on your left ('East Smithfield')

    9. Keep going straight, eventually (after 3miles) you will come to the 'LimeHouse Link Tunnel'

    10. If the 'LimeHouse Link Tunnel' is closed, take a Left at the lights, then right at the main junction, then go to step 11 NorthWest directions above

    12. Go through the LimeHouse Link Tunnel follow signs for 'Royal Docks',Remember 30mph, digital Speed Cameras - even if it feels too slow!

    13. You will pass Canary Wharf on your Right, at the roundabout, get in the right hand lane

    14. Take the 4th Exit at the roundabout (the one after the Esso Garage exit).

    15. At the next Round, you are at RoyalDocks WEST roundabout.

    16. If you want : 'Excel' Take the 1st Exit, then left. Canning Town Tube Station Take a right then right again.

    17. If you want : Canning Town Tube Station, Take the 1st Exit, Take a right then right again.

    18. If you want : Anything else :City Airport, Tradewinds, Barrier Point, Britannia Village, Eastern Quay, Capital East, ---> Take the 2nd Exit on to 'SilverTown Way'


    From the South:

    1. From the M25 take Exit 2, Get on the A2, towards 'Central London / Docklands'

    2. Keep on this road heading for the 'Blackwall Tunnel'

    3. Go through the Blackwall Tunnel, get in the left hand lane, take the first exit just at the end of the tunnel.

    4. Get in the left hand lane, go through the traffic lights, take a left at the next junction

    5. Take the 1st Exit at the next roundabout, head up the slip road to the next roundabout, get in the right hand lane

    6. Take the 4th Exit at the roundabout (the one after the Esso Garage exit).

    7. At the next Round, you are at RoyalDocks WEST roundabout.

    8. If you want : 'Excel' Take the 1st Exit, then left. Canning Town Tube Station Take a right then right again.

    9. If you want : Canning Town Tube Station, Take the 1st Exit, Take a right then right again.

    10. If you want : Anything else :City Airport, Tradewinds, Barrier Point, Britannia Village, Eastern Quay, Capital East, ---> Take the 2nd Exit on to 'SilverTown Way'

    You need to get to one of the Docklands Light Railway stops

    Royal Victoria For : Tradewinds, Barrier Point, Britannia Village, Eastern Quay, Capital East

    Custom House For : Excel, Tradewinds, Barrier Point, Britannia Village, Eastern Quay

    Cyprus for : Univeristy of East London (UEL) Docklands Campus

    Gallions Lock for : Galleons Lock, The reflection, Sky Studios, Silvertown

    Buses to Docklands run from Canning Town Bus Station (amongst others)

    From London City Airport:

    London City airport is right in the heart of Royal Docks. You couldn't get closer You will have difficult in catching a cab outside if you don't want to go very far!.

    The taxis want the big fares, although they are obliged to take you. However it may just be easier to call a local cab by asking at the information centre just inside the airport terminal or taking this number with you "0202020".
    Alternatively you can take the bus which stops right outside the main entrance.


    From London Gatwick:

    London Gatwick is nearly 50 miles away. Take the train from inside the terminal into London. Then catch the Jubilee line East Bound to Canning Town and change for the DLR / Bus / Taxi. If you ring in advance you can book a local taxi on : --number to be added--

    Take a taxi from outside the airport and your looking at big money, £50-90. 'Royal Docks is about 2 miles after going through the Blackwall tunnel'


    If your coming by train from Gatwick, take the thameslink (every 15 minutes) from the station within the terminal building to 'London Bridge station'. Then change for the Jubilee Line (the grey one) EAST to Canning Town. At Canning town get on the DLR.     London Heathrow is about 20 miles away to the west.

    By Train / Tube : Take the tube from inside the terminal into London. This is the Picadilly line, change at 'Green Park' for the Jubilee line East Bound to Canning Town. Change at Canning Town for the DLR / Bus / Taxi.

    By Car / Taxi : Head South on the M1 motorway towards London, Take the M25 junction East bound. then Follow South bound directions to Royal Docks.
